Our story began with a message for an acquaintance. Which turned into a phone call. Which turned into more messages and more phone calls. We both tripped into our feelings before we even met. I suppose that is how many stories within the walls begin, but when you know you know. And we knew.
He proposed to me at a concert, Jelly Roll's Beautifully Broken Tour to be exact. We had a video visit so he could "attend" with me. Probably not the way most girls want a proposal but for us, it was perfect.
Then came the planning. And forms. And questions. And finding an officiant who was allowed to perform marriages within Washington DOC. And then being banned from video visits because of using chapstick (no joke!), leaving me to find him a suit without his input (thank you Believe Bride of Spokane!) or ability to be there.
But we got through all of the hoops and questions and hardships. We came up with the fee for the officiant ($450!). We got a date and a time.
And finally...our day came. And it was wonderful but also not. It started late as the officiant was late. And then a witness did not show up, our ceremony was not what we had discussed or of our faith as we had requested. We felt disrespected and, in this situation, when so much is out of your control, and you have so little choice, we wanted to make a change and provide another option.
So Ironhouse Weddings was born. Our goal is to help those of you on an already difficult journey to have your wedding ceremony at an affordable price and how you want it (as much as DOC allows). We want to be there and help you with what we learned and experienced.
